POLICIES OF
THE MONTI AWARDS NOMINATION COMMITTEE
The mission of the Monti Awards is to recognize outstanding talent in Community Theatre.
The Monti Awards are for any shows performed by a select, yet not limited to, group of Community Theatre Production Companies in Valrico, Brandon, Riverview, Plant City, Mulberry, Ruskin, and Tampa, Florida. Currently this includes Plant City Entertainment, The Village Players, Macbeth And Cheese, Breakroom Entertainment, and The Missing Piece Theatre.
These awards are for theatre groups considered "community theatre" only.
Membership or representation from any or all groups is not required, since the Monti Awards are a recognition program independent of any particular theatre affiliation.
Membership to the committee is required to noninate and vote. A members list should not be made public information.
The Monti Awards Nomination Committee consists of independent members. Members are selected based on their talents, professionalism, team spirit, dedication, and love and understanding of the community theatre arts. The members include, yet are not limited to, actors, directors, producers, entertainers, stage technicians, and patrons of community theatre. Members must be at least 18 years of age. Membership is obtained by being selected or approved by the committee Vice President and President. Any member can nominate a candidate or theatre group for membership.
Theatre companies may provide a group discount to members attending a show as a group. Arrangements must be made in advance for group discounts. It is up to the theatre company as to the night of the discounted show.
Members should plan to see all shows. Members who are unable to attend all shows are asked to see a minimum of 8 productions in an award year (July - June) in order to nominate or vote . This is an honor system, so members are asked to hold on to show programs.
All members must uphold the Monti Awards process, with professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and teamwork. Any disruptive member will be removed from the Committee.
All members are ask to give nominations for all shows performed in the award fiscal year. (July - June) The nominations are then totaled and narrowed down to the top 6 nominees in each category, as the second stage in the process. In some cases, there may be 7 or 8 top nominees when there is a tie for the top 6 spots. Members vote on the top nominees. Final voting is conducted online. Production nominations and all voting are in July - August. Results are announced at the Award Show in August.
Monti Award Shows consist of award presentations, entertainment, and other forms of recognition.
